Removal of Ceilings - Ground Floor- RAL - U of I Campus Heat Recovery Project - Beginning June 3

TO ALL IN SCS:

Davis-Houk Mechanical, Inc. will be removing ceiling tiles on the ground floor of RAL beginning Monday, June 3.  This work will take place in the main corridor near the triple bank of elevators and is being done as part of the Campus(NOT SCS) Heat Recovery Project.   There will be a walkway passage while the work is being done so the area will not be completely blocked off.  Attached you will find a map of the location where they will be performing the ceiling tile removal.  Looking ahead, here is a tentative schedule of the work being done and when it will be completed:

·         5/31 or 6/3 – remove ceilings/lights etc.
·         6/3 – 6/7 – get any RFI’s or issues submitted for review/coordinate with AEI
·         6/10 – 6/14 – turn in/fabricate piping for hallway and hopefully resolve any of the issues found the week before.
·         6/17 – 6/21 – install new piping
·         6/24 – 6/28 – pressure test and insulate
·         7/1 – 7/3 – reinstall ceilings/lights

This information will be posted on the SCS Building Outages/Important Notices blog:  www.scsbuildingoutages.blogspot.com.  If you have any questions or concerns, please let us know so we can relay them to Davis-Houk and campus.

CONSTRUCTION WORK - RAL - CAMPUS HEAT RECOVERY PROJECT

To All:

Davis-Houk Mechanical will be breaking apart a large concrete base that the old compressor sat on in the basement mechanical space of RAL South this week.  During this work, you may notice some noise while they break it apart.   Once they get it broken up, they will pour a housekeeping pad for the new chiller.  The new chiller will hopefully be delivered and placed on approximately May 28.  Once that is completed, they will begin replacing the patio and sidewalks from June 3-June 12.   Attached you will find the points of egress during this construction.  Below is information to know while this construction is occurring:

-          Drilling vibrations should be minimal (comparable to the soil boring analysis earlier this year)
-          Construction noise will be loud (90+ decibel) and will be heard inside the building surrounding the courtyard.
-          The courtyard will have a drilling rig, bobcat, backhoe, etc. during construction
-          The street and sidewalk will be closed at times (contractor to coordinate)
-          Contractor will confirm start times, but end time will be difficult to confirm. The contractor cannot leave an open excavation and concrete placement needs to be completed as it allows (no stopping mid pour)

PLEASE NOTE:   This is part of the CAMPUS Heat Recovery Project and NOT an SCS related project.

If you have any questions or concerns, please let us know.
